POSM Testimonial: The POSM software suite collects and organizes video inspection media and data into an HTML template that makes the data easy to review and compatible with current and future computer tools. The City of Morro Bay has recently added the POSM Office Server Edition to our toolbox; this software package allows observations by our video inspection crews to be directly linked to the utility’s GIS database. In today’s economy and staffing levels, this package allows a utility to have a continually updated GIS database with very little devoted man hours.

Defects, lateral locations, pipe diameters, and distances are all updated by the video inspection operators and exported directly into the existing sewer GIS database. The POSM developers have created a simple answer to the question: “Where and how am I going to store all these DVDs?” The Utility can now focus its repair and rehabilitation program on the lines that need this program the most. The ability to look at pipe defects in GIS allows more cost benefit analysis to be conducted when making decisions on what repairs to conduct.

POSM server also helps present the condition of the sewer to the decision-makers and enable the staff to  present visually the efforts made to repair and rehabilitate the system. The database of sewer video inspections is now available to the field and office staff and contains the most up to date information from the video inspections.
